3 Little-Known Ways To Protect Your Home

As a homeowner, you can never be too cautious when it comes to home security, especially if you live in an area with a higher crime rate. You will even want to take extra precautions when you have a family because their protection is important. Having an alarm system, along with motion sensor lights, and home security cameras are some of the common security features for homeowners to consider, but not many consider the following three little-known ways to protect your home:

Indoor Security Cameras:

Aside from having security outside of your home that checks the perimeter of your home, you should also consider indoor security cameras. Not only can indoor security cameras help deter theft, but they will also capture thieves taking valuables so that you know what valuables were stolen and what to make a claim on. Having this footage can be helpful evidence when filing a claim through your homeowners insurance. On top of this, you can even use indoor security cameras to check on the kids when you’re not home, which is just an added bonus.

Door and Window Alerts:

When a door or window is opened in your home, a small sound will go off letting you know that someone is coming in or out. The benefit of this is that if you weren’t expecting anyone to be in or out of your home, then you can take precautions to keep your family safe. You can also contact authorities if you know that the person in your house is likely an intruder. Most likely, the alert will have scared off the intruder anyway, which is a great bonus for deterring thieves.

Indoor Motion Sensors:

Having motion sensors outside of your home is a great way to deter thieves and be altered when someone is snooping about your home. However, not many people consider installing motion sensors inside of the home. The benefit of doing this is that it not only will probably scare off an intruder who has made his or her way inside, but you will likely notice the light go off, which can help you take precautionary measures. As an added bonus, indoor motion sensors will turn on lights for you in the middle of the night when you have to use the bathroom or go downstairs for a glass of water.

When you know these three little-known ways to protect your home, you can take advantage of other security features offered by your security company that you may not have thought of before.
